10 Ways Leaders Know They Are Home
When was the last time you took a moment to think about what the word "home" means
to you? For some it means the roof over your head. For others it's more symbolic.
What if we frame the question in the context of a leader? What does "home" mean
for you as a leader? When are you most at “home”?
Here are ten ways leaders know they are at “home” with their leadership.
10. The leader is not afraid to say what needs to be said regardless of the audience.
9. The leader is confident. He/She may not always be right, but he/she is always
confident.
8. You, as a leader, are bringing new thoughts to the table for your business.
7. Sharing knowledge about the business, the industry, or the profession is fun.
6. Mentoring junior colleagues will not in any way put the leader’s career
in jeopardy.
5. Doing #7 or #6 feel genuinely like a way to give back and contribute to the organization
and others.
4. When you, as a leader, can go on a vacation and know that everything will keep
running just fine while you are away.
3. There is no fear of being undermined.
2. The leader is willing to accept constructive feedback, no matter how uncomfortable
it may be.
1. The leader’s team takes all the credit for themselves and gives no credit
to the leader.
